Animal Aid is currently in need of more foster homes for our cats and dogs. We are getting into what we commonly call, "kitten and puppy season". Local shelters and animal rescue organizations see an increase during this time of year. Just like shelters can run out of room, we at Animal Aid can run out of foster homes, causing us to have to board animals. Boarding our animals puts a huge financial burden on a not for profit organization. We never want to turn away homeless pets, although we have at times, had to limit our intake to medical rescues only. Can you help by providing a foster home for one of our rescued animals? If fostering isn't an option for you, we have several more opportunities for volunteers. Please contact us to find out more.

A NEWSLETTER FROM ANIMAL AID VOLUNTEERS

PUBLISHED TWO TO THREE TIMES ANNUALLY

Annual statistics from Berrien County Animal Control and the Humane Society of Southwestern Michigan document the fact that, due to the crisis of pet overpopulation in our community, more than 4,000 dogs and cats are destroyed every year. The singular solution to eliminate the crisis, and to create a more humane community, is for all pets to be spayed and neutered. In addition to providing care for the homeless animals it rescues, Animal Aid is committed to programs that educate our community about responsible pet ownership and care.

Our Mission Statement

Animal Aid of Southwestern Michigan (AASM) is an all volunteer animal welfare/rescue organization dedicated to preventing the suffering of injured, abused, neglected and homeless dogs and cats in Berrien County. AASM was founded in 1979, incorporated in March 1982 and received its IRS 501(c)(3) determination in January 1984.
