Adoption Happy Endings
In the animal rescue business every volunteer plays a different role in ultimatley saving and rehoming the
animal. Many times volunteers see the animal in a brief moment in time. At their worst when they are just
being rescued, they might be scared, injured, or battered. During transports, volunteers get a glimpse at
the happy soul inside but might never see the animal again. Adoption Day volunteers get to spend a couple
hours once or twice a month with the pet, and foster parents get to watch them heal and thrive in their
households but don't see that final transformation when they are truly home! We love to hear from our
adopters and to see the after, when so many of us are haunted by the before. It gives us closure and makes
all of our hard work worthwhile. We would love to see your Animal Aid alumni and to hear their "Happy
Ending". So feel free to send pictures and stories to: animalaidofswmi@yahoo.com and we will profile them
on this page!
Snoopy
his third home. The first he was taken away from because it was a bad, bad home. The second home decided
after 6 month that they couldn't keep him and so he wound up at his third, foster home. He was severely
overweight, fairly shy and afraid of a great many things - but a big lovable boy. We already owned 2 Beagle
girls and just weren't sure if another adoption would be a good fit for us. But we went to see Snoopy and of
course fell in love with him right away.
hearts in no time at all. He moved with us to Florida where he remains a happy, healthy joy and we couldn't
imagine our life without him. A couple of months ago we had to help our oldest girl to the Rainbow bridge
and it was heartbreaking for us, so once again we're happy to have Snoopy with us. He's good for us and
he's good for our remaining girl who would hate to be alone.
home and for eventually bringing him into our home, heart and family.
Yager!
I adopted a dog from Animal Aid a few years back and he has been an amazing dog. I'll
attach a picture of Yager for you.

Teddy!

(Teddy above shortly after being rescued (Teddy in March of 2009 with new family!)
Teddy came to us with so much stacked against him. He had been hit by a car and had broken bones. He had in
his past been shot with a shotgun and was loaded down with buckshot AND he was heartworm positive. Teddy
was also an older dog who often got overlooked for younger pups! But Teddy's extensive medical treatment
was a blessing in disguise. One of the vet tech's who spent hours helping Teddy recover from his issues fell in
love with him. Teddy is now the faithful friend to Stacey and her family and goes with her when she works at
her local Fire Department as well as following her like a shadow around the house. Teddy went from a life of
misery to a life worth living, making all the volunteers who touched Teddy's life happy but more importantly
Teddy is thriving in his new home! Teddy's family shared this with us: " We must say that he has turned into
such a wonderful addition - he stepped in right where my beloved Vader left off. I truley believe that when
one angel goes to heaven, they send down another one in their place. He is every bit the companion, shadow,
protector, & trusted friend that Vader was - it's scarey how he took over Vader's bed, toy, chewy, tormenting
of the cats and lay place in the kitchen- just as if he had always been here. He loves riding in the truck just
like Vad and I can't go out the door without him at my heels (just to watch over me). Don't get me wrong, the
other two "mutts" are very dear to my heart but Theo seems to have a special mission on this earth. Sorry for
rambling - I just wanted to thank you & animal aid for taking the chance on such a messed up dog!! Stacey G.

Grover

"My fiancé and I adopted Grover in January of 2007; he was about 6 months old. His foster mom was great to
work with. We could tell she really loved him and took good care of him. Grover has made an amazing addition
to our family. Grover is such a happy dog. He loves to run and play, with both his human and canine friends.
As you can see from the pictures attached, Grover loves all of the seasons. He has fun running through the
snow in the winter, swimming in the summer, and chewing his bones all year round. We are very lucky to have
him. He is the kind of dog who is always happy to see you. There is great debate on his mix of breeds, but
we just call him our “Michigan Brown Dog” and we think he got the best of a few good breeds. He would love
to have a brother or sister, so we will be looking out for his
perfect match. Thank you Animal Aid!" Kris Craig
