Adoption> Procedures
We are glad you are thinking about adopting an animal! Owning a pet should be a lifetime committment
and should not be decided on the spur of the moment. Pets just like people have different personalities
and different needs. Not every pet is going to fit into every household. Animal Aid works hard to make
good matches between pets and persons. To do this we have some simple policies and procedures that
we follow.
ADOPTION FEES:
| Dogs & Puppies | $95.00 | This includes health exam, heartworm test, rabies vaccine, distemper/parvo vaccine, worming, and spaying or neutering of the animal. Other medical treatments and medications may have been conducted on the the animal, adopters will receive full disclosure on medical history and care. |
| Cats & Kittens | $75.00 | This includes health exam, FELV/FIV test, rabies, feline distemper, worming, and spaying or neutering of the animal. Other medical treatments and medications may have been conducted on the the animal, adopters will receive full disclosure on medical history and care. |
Adoption Questionaire: You can download an Adoption Questionaire here if you are interested in adopting. Questionaires are to be submitted to the foster parent.
POLICIES:
1. All adopters must be 18 years of age and be able to provide proof of identification.
2. Our pets are not adopted on a first come first serve basis. We attempt to place the animals we care for
in the best home possible. When we have multiple applications for the same pet, those applications are
carefully reviewed and although the decision is always difficult and emotionally hard we must pick the
household we believe is the best fit for the pet. When this happens we make every attempt to work with
the other potential adopters to find another pet that will match their needs.
3. Vet and landlord references will be requested and checked.
4. We require a home visit to ensure that statements made on the adoption questionnaire are accurate.
The foster parent will make arrangements for this vist at a time convenient for all. This is also
the opportunity to see how the animal interacts with family members and other pets in the household.
5. You will be asked to sign a contract upon adoption approval. This contract is legally binding and
allows Animal Aid to reclaim the animal for any violations of the contract.
6. Extended Home visits are sometimes allowed prior to adoption so that the adopter can
make sure that the pet will fit into their household. This is at the discretion of the foster parent and
home visits shall not last longer then 30 days.
